Ever winced at the idea of taking the customary family trip to the Ganges, with over enthusiastic in-laws for a holy dip, there’s good news for you! The Aalia Haridwar, a luxury boutique resort brings you world class hospitality that wonderfully combines a tranquil luxurious holiday along with spirituality and divinity. Wedding Fables finds out stay at this splendid resort is utterly enjoyable and a rejuvenating one ! And yes it is a resort that is perfect for weddings!

The drive  to Aalia Haridwar was a pleasant one spanning a distance of approximately 12 kms from the railway station . Located near to the Rajaji National Park of the Chilla Range, the well maintained road was an added bonus to the flourishing greenery of the sanctuary. The road bifurcated to a small lane, taking us through a maze of fresh green open fields before we reached the entrance of the resort.

Aalia resort is a fairly new addition in the hospitality horizon in Haridwar and I would certainly say, an innovative and prized one. The hot cup of honey ginger tea offered on arrival was a perfect welcome drink to revitalize us. Vast expanses of greens greeted us with the most serene view of Ganges, flowing in harmony with abounding nature, instantaneously enveloping us with a calming effect. Swirling white cabanas near the swimming pool looked marvelously alluring and welcoming against the backdrop of open skies and blue mountains. The cobbled pathway lined with beautiful stones, to the river, promised a serene and leisurely walk to be taken later. Aalia is a place where you can rediscover yourself spiritually as you take a unhurried worldly vacation. It also give a perfect setting for the dream wedding that you may have been planning for your family member.

Our rooms were at the exclusive Aalia Villa, closest to the riverside with a magnificent sight to please the senses. One can experience  elegant luxury in the spacious well appointed rooms with extra large tubs. An open air Jacuzzi added the  extra zest of an outdoor experience while viewing  the majestic Ganga  flowing in quiet harmony. It also has a well designed deluxe living room and a reading parlour with a kitchen so large families are also easily accommodated.

The  General Manager, Mr Deeraj informed that the resort houses a total of 36 rooms styled into 12 perfect villas. Aptly called the Chilla suite, the river suite and the garden suite with each villa contains three spacious and comfortable rooms. The decor is minimalist yet opulent with its timber architecture, lavish beds and facilities that is on offer for today’s discerning vacation seekers. A pleasant surprise for holiday makers is The Cigar Lounge, a bar that is well stocked with finest cognac and spirits to cheer up a relaxing evening with friends and family

One thing which I shall not miss out mentioning is the food which is served in its only restaurant. The chef deserves a huge commendation for the wonderful dishes designed and served here. The flavors  are perfect  with just the right amount of salt and spices to make each meal a delightful one. It was amazing to practically find no oil in the noodles and poha and the sumptuous gajar ka halwa is going to remain in my memory as one of the best I ever had.

Not just for destressing and unwinding quietly, the Aalia has everything for everyone! So if you are the outdoorsy and adventurous type, there is plenty to keep you engaged. Just  experience the colossal jungle life through a jungle safari to the Rajaji National Park well known for its elephants and diverse bird species or go for a lifetime experience of white water rafting at Rishikesh. One can also take shot archery, play badminton go mountain biking or just take a leisurely stroll.

A resort without yoga sessions in Haridwar would be unimaginable. But a relaxing massage at the hands of their charming therapists is something I was not expecting. The back and head massage I was given can only be described as divine. The Aalia surely is a gem in this holy city that provides  a platform for beautiful bonding!
